'Tis the exhibition season for graduating design students

With the university year drawing to a close University of Canberra design students are well on the way to showcasing the best of their year's work.

Exhibitions are being held from across the design schools:   industrial design and landscape architecture students held exhibitions last month while architecture and graphic design students will hold exhibitions over the coming weeks.

'Decoded' , an exhibition of work by graduating architecture students, will open this Thursday November 9 . Showcasing drawings, models, renderings and photos by final year architecture students the exhibition includes designs for the Moruya Airport and the Randwick Cinemedia Centre in Sydney.

Head of Architecture, Pr Craig Bremner said: "The exhibition reflects the broad range of styles and design approaches undertaken by the students, providing a rich tapestry of work for display."

The exhibition will also be shown in Sydney (no models) at 'Tusculum', RAIA NSW Headquarters, Pots Point, opening 5.30pm on 17 November and run till 24 November.

'Blanc' , an exhibition by graphic design students will open on Friday November 17 .

Graphic design lecturer said the theme 'blanc' symbolises the students' readiness to enter the professional design world, much like the artist's primed blank white canvas is ready and waiting for the artwork to begin.

"All artists and designers know the challenge of the white canvas, blank paper or screen. The graduates you see represented [at the exhibition] are more than ready, able and eager to take on the challenge of the professional design world.

"While the work is very different and individual, all works shown illustrate a passion for design, great skill and creativity," Ms Fitton said.
