AWB: lessons in governance

On Monday, 1 May, the University of Canberra's National Institute for Governance is hosting the seminar AWB - Lessons in Governance . An issue that has been hotting up over recent months, particularly with the Ministers for Trade and Foreign Affairs as well as the Prime Minister appearing before the Commission just prior to Easter, this affair is more than just a political one - what are the lessons to be drawn for governance, the importance of due diligence and Board oversight and accountability?

Professor Stephen Bartos will be presenting a paper on what implications there might be for both corporate and public sector governance in Australia for analysis by our two esteemed discussants Mr David Marr of the Sydney Morning Herald and Dr Linda Botterill of the University of New South Wales at the Australian Defence Force Academy.

For more information about this seminar, please contact the National Institute for Governance on 02 6201 5607 or nigov@canberra.edu.au . The National Institute for Governance, at the University of Canberra, through its research, consultancy and outreach activities aims to improve governance practices in Australia and its region.
