ENVIRONMENTAL DOCUMENTARY TO BE LAUNCHED DURING HARMONY WEEK

A University of Canberra graduate will launch a short documentary "How Green is my Campus" at 11:30am on Thursday the 23 rd March.

Lee Moskwa received a Healthpact grant as a student in 2005 to undertake the project that examines environmental sustainability, using the University as a case study.

"I wanted to increase community awareness about sustainable development and the environment," Lee said.

The film explores the relationship that staff and students have with their environment and looks at measures being taken by the University to build a sustainable environment.

Lee hopes the documentary will be used as a springboard to discuss environmental sustainability at the University, with the next step planned being a discussion forum to follow up issues raised by the documentary.

Other Harmony Week festivities include cultural performances on Wednesday from 12pm beginning with a Lion Dance, Market Day Harmony stalls and a display of games from around the world. The Harmony Day Award presentation to students and staff will be at 10:30am on Friday in the library.

The Harmony Program evolved from the Harmony and Faith Project, undertaken in 2004 and jointly funded by the Australian Government's Living in Harmony (LIH) Community Grants program and the University of Canberra.

The Program highlights the many benefits of a multicultural society and encourages the university community to develop its own flourishing diverse culture. It provides many opportunities for staff and students from all backgrounds and lifestyles to mix, meet, celebrate and engage in dialogue.
