These and other questions about Australia’s High Court will be answered when the University of Canberra host’s, the Justice Michael Kirby Lecture: The High Court – The Most Common Questions.
Justice Kirby is the country’s longest serving High Court Judge and has had a long association with universities. He was president of the students’ representative council at Sydney University, a deputy chancellor at the University of Newcastle and chancellor of Macquarie University until 1993.
In 1991, Justice Kirby was awarded the Australian Human Rights Medal. In 1997 he was included in The Bulletin magazine as one of Australia’s “Ten most creative minds”, in 2006 The Bulletin named him as, “One of Australia’s most influential Australians ever”.
Justice Kirby has also been described by the National Trust as one of our, "Living National Treasures".
