2 September: Forty: Highlights from the University of Canberra Art Collection exhibition commemorates the long standing commitment by the University of Canberra to supporting the arts through purchase and display.
The exhibition includes works by Indigenous artist Emily Kame Kngwarreye currently exhibiting UTOPIA at the Australian National Museum, well loved Australian artist Margaret Olley, Sidney Nolan and etchings by Fred Williams.
University of Canberra Art Curator, Charlene Smith is pleased that the exhibition is made up entirely of works by Australian artists, including local painters and past and present members of staff.
“The University of Canberra art collection encourages awareness and understanding of the visual arts among the University community and engages with the broader ACT community.
“These culturally significant art works enhance the visual landscape of an institution like the University of Canberra,” said Ms Smith.
The exhibition will be officially opened on Wednesday 3 September at 6 pm by the Director of artsACT, David Whitney. The exhibition will run until the 17 September.
