23 September: The University of Canberra’s Boiler House Lecture Theatre will be bathed in pink light next week as part of National Breast Cancer Foundation Global Illumination.
This is the first time in the event’s 11-year history that universities have participated in the illumination. Sue Murray, NBCF chief executive explained the campaign’s new direction.
“Global Illumination has always been a unique way of raising awareness of breast cancer among the community. Illuminating the Universities acknowledges that ongoing, sustained research is what holds the key to unlocking the mysteries of this devastating disease, which claims the lives of more than 2,600 women and 95 men in a single year,” she said.
The Boiler House Lecture Theatre is an award-winning building, earning the 1992 RAIA (ACT Chapter) Canberra Medallion.
