23 September: The University of Canberra will feature its weird and wonderful in a special art exhibition.
Bruce – the UC story will showcase the people, places and events that have shaped the past 40 years for the University of Canberra.
University of Canberra art curator, Charlene Smith believes the exhibition is a wonderful way to see the history of the University. “This exhibition is a way to see the history through photographs and other memorabilia. You can see what the campus used to look like, and the people who taught, learned and led at the University.
“The serious, silly, decorative or documentary, the exhibition shows us how much we have changed, the things we’ve done and the people we’ve seen as a University,” she said.
The exhibition will feature original speech material by Prime Minister John Gorton, historic photos an early model of the University campus design.
The lighter side of University of Canberra life is also on display for all to see, with the “Mr Bewdy” contests, stone day festivities to graduation.
The exhibition will run from Thursday 25 September until Friday 10 October 2008.
