15 July: 200 new students from around the world and over 500 new students from across Australia will be moving to Canberra to begin their studies at the University of Canberra.
Orientation Week, or O-Week as it is known to students, starts with the international students welcome, but the focal point of the celebrations is Wednesday 16th, known as O-Day to students.
International students starting this semester come from as far away as Japan, Canada and China to name a few, including 40 students from the Study Abroad and Exchange Program here for a semester experiencing the world outside their country of origin. The official welcome for students taking part in the UC Accelerate program, a University Extension Program for senior secondary students providing a head start for their university studies, will be held on Tuesday.
O-Day, Wednesday 16th, is sure to be the most popular day of the week long celebration seeing local band Starfish Hill perform on the concourse and the launch of the new CueFM, which will become the first campus radio station in the ACT to simultaneously internet stream and narrowcast. Library tours and course advice sessions will run all day and market stalls will fill the concourse, clubs and societies searching for new recruits.
