4 August: The University of Canberra 40th anniversary celebrations have officially commenced with the burial of a time capsule.
The celebration featured children from the University of Canberra Wiradjuri and Kirinari childcare centres passing a time capsule to the Vice-Chancellor, which was then buried on campus (to be opened at the 50th anniversary). The morning’s events l also included indigenous dancers, music and a keynote address by University of Canberra Graduate and now ACT Attorney General Simon Corbell.
University of Canberra Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stephen Parker said, “The 40th anniversary celebrations will be an opportunity to celebrate and showcase our key strengths with a particular focus on our rich teaching history, our community, our graduates, our staff and our future.”
The 40th anniversary celebrations will also include:
• Foundation Stone Anniversary: The UC Foundation Stone, originally dedicated by Sir John Gorton (former Prime Minister) will be re-dedicated to mark our 40th anniversary. To celebrate, UC will be re-visiting some of the old foundation day traditions.

"Setting a wage that allows everyone who wishes to work to find paid employment must be the core aim of the Fair Pay Commisson. Pricing workers out of jobs should be strenuously avoided.”
