In 2006, Associate Professor Mahalingam was awarded two prestigious Australian Research Council grants to find ways to tackle dengue fever and Ross River virus.

Associate Professor Mahalingam can provide insights on these and other mosquito-borne diseases, as well as smallpox, inflammatory diseases, viral arthritis and asthma.

UC 40th anniversary celebrations underway

1 August: The University of Canberra 40th anniversary celebrations will officially commence on Monday.  

The opening celebration will feature the dedication of a time capsule (to be opened at the 50th anniversary), indigenous dancers, music and a keynote address by University of Canberra Graduate now ACT Attorney General Simon Corbell.

University of Canberra Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stephen Parker said, “The 40th anniversary celebrations will be an opportunity to celebrate and showcase our key strengths with a particular focus on our rich teaching history, our community, our graduates, our staff and our future.”

The 40th anniversary celebrations will run over three months and will feature the re-dedication of the University Foundation Stone, the 2008 Don Aitkin lecture delivered by former Minister for Education, Employment and Training Mr John Dawkins and culminate in October with Stonefest the largest campus music event in Australia.
