Milind Sathye, banking
With over three decades of combined professional and academic experience in banking, Professor Sathye’s practical and theoretical background in the industry has seen his published work cited by; the World Bank, Federal Reserve Bank, Bank of Italy, QLD Department of Health, the Asian Development Bank, and contributed to government policy formulation nationally and internationally.
In addition to appearing as an expert witness in the Victorian Supreme Court on credit and lending issues, Professor Sathye has run training programs on anti-money laundering for a bank in China and the Commonwealth Bank in Australia. He is often consulted by Australian and overseas media about banking and finance, global financial crisis and other economic issues. He has also received invitations from the Senate Economics Committee of Australian Parliament to make submissions and appear for hearings on the bank funding guarantee, keeping banks accountable bill, access to small business finance bill and fee free bank account bill. Recommendations made by him in the first two committees have been accepted in the final report by these committees.
