UC's Metadata Standard

UC has adopted the Australian standard for metadata – The Australian Government Locator Service (AGLS) - as the University’s online metadata standard.

The six mandatory AGLS metadata elements that should be included in all UC webpages are:

  • Creator: The person or organisation responsible for the creation of the resource
  • Publisher: The name of the person/organisation responsible for making the resource available online
  • Title: A formal name for the online resource
  • Date: The date that the resource was made available or modified – must be in the format (yyyy-mm-dd)
  • Subject: Keywords or phrases that succinctly describe the content of the resource
  • Identifier: A unique identifier for the resource – the Uniform Resources Locator

These elements are all generated automatically except the Subject element, which must always be added manually.
