What is Metadata?

Metadata is structured information about information.

It may describe who authored the information, what the information is about or when the information has validity etc.

Adding metadata to your web pages will:

  • Improve the chances of information being 'discovered' by search engines.
  • Enable the management of the information itself - knowing who wrote it and when etc.

UC's metadata standard

UC has adopted the Australian Government Locator Service as UC's metadata standard.
