Special Collections
The Lu Rees Archives has been fortunate to receive large manuscript and artwork donations from a number of authors, illustrators and publishers. As a result we have been able to arrange, describe and store these donations to facilitate access.
We create finding aids and artwork frameworks to describe these collections. A finding aid enables us to establish administrative, physical and intellectual control over records. It provides users information they are seeking about the collection, including the type of material, the date range, and who was involved in the creation of these materials. The artwork frameworks enable the Archives to gain physical and intellectual control over our artwork; achieve a record of holdings; ensure easy storage and retrieval; avoid frequent handling of artwork; provide public information about the Archives' holdings; and facilitate research into and public exhibitions of our artworks.
These collections contain items such as original manuscripts - handwritten and typed (including author corrections and publisher annotations); notes; page and cover proofs; promotional materials; sketches; original artwork; maps; merchandise: photographs; correspondence; biographical information; speeches and articles, as well as other items.
