Terms of Reference
Role and Purpose
Management of the Lu Rees Archives is vested in the Lu Rees Archives Management Committee, which meets six times a year.
The Lu Rees Archives Management Committee is responsible for policy decisions concerning the Lu Rees Archives, and for control of Archives' funds from The Children's Book Council of Australia National Executive and the ACT Branch., Inc.
The Lu Rees Archives Management Committee advises the University Librarian, University of Canberra, on the operation of the Lu Rees Archives. However, it does not have the power to direct the University Librarian in relation to Library matters.
Membership
Membership of the Lu Rees Archives Management Committee is drawn from the following four groups:
ex officio:
Members include the National President, The Children's Book Council of Australia; President, Children's Book Council of Australia, ACT Branch, Inc.; University Librarian, University of Canberra, or University Librarian's representative; Collections Development Manager of the Archives and Lu Rees Archives Administrative Officer; and Editor, The Lu Rees Archives: Notes, Books and Authors.
other members:
Other members of the Management Committee are drawn from the Children's Book Council of Australia, ACT Branch, Inc.; the University of Canberra Library and academic staff with a teaching or research interest in the Lu Rees Archives; academic staff at the Australian Catholic University; and a Canberra community liaison individual.
library representatives:
Appointed representatives include a member nominated by the Director-General, National Library of Australia; and Libraries ACT and Information Service; and the Canberra Institute of Technology.
co-opted members:
The Lu Rees Archives Management Committee has the power to co-opt additional members as it sees fit.
Office Holders
The Lu Rees Archives Management Committee shall elect a Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer from its membership at the last meeting of the Committee in each calendar year, to hold office for the following year.
Changes to These Terms of Reference
The Lu Rees Archives Management Committee is a Committee of the Children's Book Council of Australia, ACT Branch, Inc., and reports to the ACT Branch. The ACT Branch approves these Terms of Reference, and the ACT Branch must approve any changes to them.
