To request an E-Reserve page, please email e-reserve@canberra.edu.au
The following information MUST be provided so that Library staff may process your request:
-
Details of your unit (including name, unit number, semester)
-
An electronic list of your citations/references. (This is a legal requirement that allows us to meet the University's copyright obligations.)
-
Good quality hardcopies of book chapters (if the Library does not hold them in its collection).
-
A clear indication of how you would like your readings organised on your E-Reserve page (we can organise readings into folders, e.g. by week, module or assignment)
Library staff will then:
- Create a page specifically for your unit
- Provide you with a unique URL which can be added to your unit's WebCT page
Please note: If an article is available online, Library staff will always link to this rather than providing an online copy. This is done to expedite turnaround time, ensure our compliance with copyright and maximise the use of the University's online subscriptions.
What can I add to E-Reserve?
Your E-Reserve page can include links to:
- Journal articles to which the library subscribes
- Book chapters or articles scanned as PDF (Portable Document Format)
- External websites that contain relevant information
- Colour images or photographs in JPEG format
Please note: We do not reproduce printed and bound Reading Bricks (Readers)

How long will this take?
Generally, your readings will be available on E-Reserve within a week of being received by the Library.
Factors which will, however, affect turnaround time include:
- Receipt of material after the beginning of semester
- Difficulty in sourcing materials
- Infringement of copyright laws (see below)
We will keep you informed of our progress and advise you when the page is ready.
Guidelines
To enable us to compile your E-Reserve pages more quickly and efficiently, please follow the guidelines below:
- As soon as you have confirmed the reading requirements for your unit, please send us the list so we can start the process of linking and scanning
- Ensure that your citations (references) are accurate so that staff are able to easily locate items. (For example, include subtitles where available, especially if an item has a common title such as 'Business management')
- Provide as many bibliographic details as possible, such as author, publisher, edition, etc.
- If you are including URLs, please also provide the title of the Web page
- If you are providing photocopies of the readings, please ensure they are clear and complete

Copyright laws
E-Reserve is bound to comply with Digital Copyright Laws. We are licensed to copy:
- 10% or one chapter of a published monograph (whichever is greater)
- One article from a particular issue of a journal
If you have any queries or concerns about copyright, please contact Library staff or check UC Guide to Copyright for further information.
