JPs in the Australian Capital Territory

Justices of the Peace (JPs) serve the ACT community primarily by witnessing documents and administering oaths and affirmations to persons wishing to make affidavits in proceedings before courts.

Statutory Declarations in the ACT

The following persons can legally witness a signature on a Statutory Declaration within the ACT.

List of University Approved Officers in the Library

A number of Library staff in the Library are authorised to certify photocopies as true copies of original documents. This service is in no way related to making Statutory Declarations.

During business hours, please ask staff at the Information and Loans Desk in the Library to contact one of the authorised staff members on duty when you require copies certified. Please bring both original documents and the copies.

Police

The Australian Federal Police are also able to certify documents. The nearest police presence is the Belconnen Police Station.
