The signature themes of the University of Canberra's courses and disciplines are aligned with the Teaching and Learning aspects of the UC Strategic Plans. 

Established by the 2007 Review of Courses and Disciplines, the five signature themes are to forge linkage between:

• the University and its diverse student communities
• education and work
• disciplines and courses
• research and teaching
• cultures 

In 2010, the University made considerable progress on research-led education, internationalisation, work integrated learning and greater student access, choice and flexibility.
