2011 ACE on the Spot

On the 22nd September, the ACT Australian College of Educators branch held their ACE on the Spot event in partnership with the University of Canberra. 

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Carole Kayrooz welcomed the internationally acclaimed writer, consultant, lecturer and academic - Professor Guy Claxton from the University of Winchester, UK.

Professor Claxton is the originator of the educational Building Learning Power programme and specialises in creativity, education and the mind. 

Drawing on his experience and expertise Professor Claxton provided a thought-provoking presentation to an audience of principals, teachers, university lectures and students in the Ann Harding Conference Centre, where he not only illuminated and explored the latest research on the "science of learnable intelligence" but also encouraged participants to reflect on their own school practices and how they, as educators, can help build the learning power of student.

During the evening, ACT Branch President Bruce McCourt thanked Professor Kayrooz for "the University's invaluable partnership in supporting this quality professional learning opportunity for educators".

Professor Kayrooz accepted a Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stephen Parker.
