[Student] Do I get charged for using chat programs such as MSN Messenger?

Yes. If you are asked to authenticate yourself (you are prompted to type in your student login and password), you will be charged for internet traffic whether it is using a chat program such as MSN Messenger, downloading files or surfing the web.

Note: The only exception is your University Email account which is via Microsoft Exchange Labs (Live@EDU). Although you are prompted to enter your student login/password credentials, you are not charged for this internet traffic.

Detailed information and charges are available on the Internet Access page.
