Important Information regarding your Workspace
When you log into a Macintosh workstation, a temporary workspace is created for you and placed in the folder that looks like a little house [Command-Shift H]. Your workspace includes a number of useful files and folders such as Documents, Library, Movies, Music, Pictures, etc. When you log out, this folder and all of its contents are deleted. Any files that you save in this workspace will be lost. They cannot be recovered and will not reappear the next time you log in.
If you wish to retain any of your work you must copy it to a more permanent place before logging out. Available alternatives include:
- Your Student H: drive - You can access your network document storage by clicking the folder located in the Dock. Items saved here will be available from both Mac and PC
- CD-R - holds up to 700Mb. All IMacs can burn CDs.
- DVD-R - holds up to 4.7Gb. All IMacs can burn DVDs.
- External - USB devices
