Multiple Choice Exam/Test Marking

The Computer Centre operates an exam/test marking service for processing multiple choice examination results or summarising statistical survey forms.

Exam Setting Requirements

The system requires students to record their responses to a set of multiple choice questions on a standardised answer sheet. Each answer sheet has provision for 200 questions, with a choice of 5 options (A, B, C, D, or E) for each answer. For True/False questions, columns A and B are used.

Please note: each question can have only ONE correct answer indicated on the form.

Processing Time

Testmarker exams are usually processed within 12 - 48 hours of lodgement at the Service Desk. Processing times may be higher during University examination periods.

Forms Collection

A supply of the standardised multiple choice answer forms are held at the Computer Centre Service Desk. If large quantities of forms are required, please phone the Service Desk in advance on extension 5500, so that the forms you require can be ready for collection without delay.

Cost of Exam Marking

All testmarker request forms require a Faculty Cost Centre Number against which all charges are debited. Charges are calculated as follows:

  • On issuing the test marker forms, an initial cost of 35 cents is charged per form
  • On processing the completed forms, an additional 30 cents is charged for each form
  • The total cost per form is 65 cents

Note: Staff will be offered a self serve in semester 2 whereby they can mark the exams on our equipment for a charge of only 35 cents per form in total. A saving of 30 cents per form.

Instructions for Staff

Instructions for lecturers (PDF 566Kb) outline how to complete the testmarker forms.

Instructions for Students

When filling in an answer form, students should only use a 2B pencil.

Lodging the Exam for Processing

  • Lecturers must provide a Master Answer Form with the correct answers filled in. A completed Header Form must accompany the master form.
  • A completed "Multiple Choice Testmarker Lodgement Form"  must accompany each exam for processing.

IMPORTANT: When lodging the exam for processing, please have all forms facing the same way. Service Desk staff will not sort forms into the correct order. Failure to adhere to this request will cause undue delays.
