File Shares (excluding Academic Divisions)

Changes to Group Access for Shares should come from one of the assigned Data Custodians in the form of an email to the servicedesk/helpdesk.

Access will not be granted to any staff member unless a specific process is followed.

  1. If you require access to a share on Sahara you need to contact the Data Custodian for the share you require.
    1. You can determine who the data custodians are by checking with your supervisor, contacting the Help Desk on extension 5500 or by consulting the list below.
    2. The data custodian for the share will usually be the supervisor for the section the share relates to or the staff member responsible for maintaining the data on that share.
  2. You or your direct supervisor needs to ask that the Data Custodian requests access to the share on your behalf.
    1. This request must come from one of the data custodians via email to the Service Desk;
    2. And must include:
      1. Name of staff member to be added;
      2. their Staff Number;
      3. The name of the Server that the share is on (e.g. Sahara);
      4. And the correct name of the Share (eg Example$)
  3. The Help Desk staff will then log the job which will be actioned ASAP.
    1. After you have been added to the security group, you will need to log out and log back in before your access is updated.
A list of shares is available to authorised staff.
