Change Management
Change management is the process responsible for controlling the lifecycle of all IT changes.
The primary objective of change management is to enable beneficial changes to be made with minimum distruption to ITM services.
The University is reliant on the ITM architecture for its effective operation. It is critical that all IT changes to the ITM architecture are implemented in a way that minimises its risk and impact to its end-users. This secures the integrity of the system and maximises availability of the University's ITM architecture to end-users.
Procedure for requesting changes
Follow these procedures for required changes that affect any University of Canberra systems:
- Obtain approval from your manager/director/Dean to request a change.
-
Send an E-mail to the Service Desk (servicedesk@canberra.edu.au) detailing the changes you require.
- If your change is deemed Standard, your request will be forwarded to the relevant ITM area for actioning and ITM staff will liaise with you to complete and resolve the work required.
- If your change is deemed Non-Standard, the ITM Change Manager may ask you to complete and return a Non-Standard Change Request (NSCR) Form. Once received, the NSCR will be assessed through established change control processes and when work and resources are scheduled, ITM staff will liaise with you to complete and resolve the work required.
- The ITM Change Manager will determine whether your request constitues a Standard change or a Non-standard change
