Workplace Orientation

All new staff need to be welcomed and introduced into their new work environment. At the University of Canberra we call that Workplace Orientation. To assist you with settling the new starter into your team we have a Workplace Orientation Checklist.

Steps required for Workplace Orientation

  1. Appoint a contact person for Workplace Orientation - this is usually the supervisor or a knowledgable team mate.
  2. Print off the Workplace Orientation Checklist (word 187kb) (pdf 473kb)
  3. The contact person will start working through the checklist prior to the commencement of the new team member.
  4. After the initial welcoming and introductions hand over the checklist for the starter to continue to work through.
  5. Within 3 months the starter should complete all the activities on the checklist. The starter will then sign and forward the checklist to Human Resources so it can be placed on their staff file.
