About the University

The University of Canberra was established in 1967 as the Canberra College of Advanced Education. The University of Canberra Act 1989 came into effect on 1 January 1990. On 1 December 1997 jurisdiction for the University was passed to the Australian Capital Territory. Learn more about the history of UC.

The university is situated on a 119 hectare site, 8 km from the central business district.

Our Staff

The University of Canberra employs a very diverse workforce. The University has over 800 permanent Academic and General Staff. This is supplemented with sessional staff and during semester the total number of staff can exceed 1200.

Listed below are links to both University and external agreements, policies, acts and services to assist you, the new staff member, to get a "feel" for your new working environment.
