In November 2010 the Vice-Chancellor approved a review of the policy covering smoking on Campus.
As from the 9th December 2010, smoking will be prohibited in all outdoor eating and drinking areas. these areas will include the Hub, Sizzle Cafe and areas directly outside the refectory and will be appropriately signposted.
Further to this smoking will then be restricted to various designated "smoking areas" on campus.
It is our stated aim to deliver a smoke-free campus by 2016, and the introduction of smoking areas alongside a continual review of our policies will help us move towards this goal.
A full copy of the Tobacco on Campus policy is available from the Policy Central website. In order to help implement the policy effectively across the University, we will be rolling out information and resources for staff and students.
