Risk Management Program

What is Risk Management

Risk Management is a strategic approach to mitigating risks and addressing hazards in the work place.

Risk Management has four main stages:

  • Identification
  • Risk Assessment
  • Risk Control
  • Review

Risk Management Guidelines

The University of Canberra utilises the risk management approach in solving workplace health and safety issues. The OHS Risk Management Guidelines adopt the SAFE Risk Management Model as specified in the ACT OHS Commissioner's's publication  A Risk Management Approach.

Why complete a Risk Assessment

Completing a risk assessment is the best way to document strategies on how a hazard is going to be managed. A risk assessment will incorporate the identification of the hazard, what the level of risk is and what can be done to improve the situation.
