"Fieldtrip" is any one period of field activity, including a field class, but aslo includes fieldwork by staff and/or students for research, consultancy, reconnaissance or any other University related purpose; a fieldtrip includes the travel that may be required between the University and the field location.
In order to manage health and safety risks related to fieldtrip activities undertaken by the University, the Guidelines should be followed. These guidelines have been prepared to ensure that all fieldwork activities are properly managed and coordinated in such a way as to me the best interests of the University while protecting the safety of staff members, students and the wider community.
Risks of activities undertaken during the fieldwork can be assessed using the risk a assessment form. A checklist of procedures has been written to summarise actions that must be undertaken by the fieldtrip leader, during and after the fieldwork.
