Setting up your Workstation
Poor workstation setup along with the repetitive and prolonged use of a computer keyboard and/or mouse can lead to muscle aches and discomfort.
When setting up the position of workstation furniture and equipment it is important to try new positions to find the most comfortable arrangement for yourself.
The following guidance has been referenced from Worksafe Victoria and Comcare's Officewise publications and is a step-by-step approach designed to be used when employees are located at a new workstation or when ever tasks change.
This guidance should be used in conjunction with the Workstation Self Assessment Checklist. The purpose of this checklist is to provide the tool for members of staff to undertake an initial assessment of the set up of their workstation to help assist in achieving and maintaining good ergonomic work practices.
Setting Up Your Workstation
If after having carried out the self-assessment you have a concern regarding your workstation or you are not comfortable carrying out a self-assessment then a request for a formal work station assessment may be made by emailing the Health and Safety Office.
