Scrivener Emergency Procedures
In the event of an emergency at the Scrivener Building where evacuation is necessary, a two tone alert system will be activated.
The Alert tone (BEEP BEEP) does not require immediate evacuation. You will hear the alert tone whenever an emergency of some kind is evident. Upon hearing the alert tone:
- Secure any sensitive material.
- Collect your non bulky personal effects and await further instructions.
- Request any visitors to remain with you.
- If you are not on your normal floor when the alert tone is sounded, you should stay where you are and follow the directions of that particular Warden.
The Evacuation tone (Whoop Whoop) is sounded when an evacuation is deemed necessary. When this sound is heard:
- Follow the directions of the Warden.
- Move in an orderly manner to the nearest safe exit.
- Do Not Use The Lifts
- Leave the building.
- Once clear of the building, walk quickly and calmly to the designated emergency assembly area (see map below).
- Do not re-enter the building until advised to do so by the appropriate designated authority, fire warden or fire brigade.
