The Red Cross: Club Red group blood donation program
Club Red provides an opportunity for the University of Canberra staff and students to get together and do something special by regularly donating blood.
To ensure staff and students donating are registered and donations counted correctly there is now an individual registration form available. Simply fill it out (organisation/group field details below) and submit it on-line.

The Red Cross Donor Mobile will be on Campus in March in 2012
Thursday 22nd March - 9:00am till 2:30pm
Friday 23rd March - 9:00am till 2:30pm.
Please note the Donor Mobile will be located in the loading bay in front of Building 10 opposite the basketball courts.

Am i eligible to give blood?

Most people are able to give blood if they:
- are fit, healthy and not suffering from a cold, flu or other illness at the time of donation or in the previous 7 days
- are aged between 16-70 years (in QLD and WA 16-17 year olds require parental consent)
- weigh more than 45kg (16-17 year olds need to weigh more than 50kg)
- are prepared by having plenty of liquid the day before donation, especially in warm weather. In addition, in the 3 hours before donating, please drink at least 3 good-sized glasses of water/juice.
- eat something in the 3 hours before donating
- bring ID. Please bring at least one form of photo identification.
New donation criteria (IMPORTANT)
There have been some recent changes to the eligibility criteria for blood donation which came into effect on 13th February 2012. These may require a postponement or deferral of a donation under certain circumstances. These include:
- Travelled recently,
- Taking medication,
- Having a piercing or acupuncture recently, or
- Had any dental procedures recently.
Donors should call the Red Cross Medical Officer on 13 14 95 to ensure they are eligible to donate.
Where else can i donate blood?
The ARCBS is aware it can be difficult for people working full-time to find time in their busy schedule to donate blood.

Monday: 8:15am to 3:30pm
Tuesday: 7:30am to 3:00pm (whole blood)
7:30am to 5:50pm (plasma)
Wednesday: 11:15am to 6:45pm
Thursday: 7:30am to 3:00pm
Friday: 7:30am to 2:45pm
