The Certificate IV in Frontline Management is being offered to UC Staff by the University of Canberra through the University of Canberra College (UCC) and is designed to teach participants many of the skills of effective planning and leadership in a work environment.

This program has been commissioned by UC Human Resources, as one of a suite of programs providing staff with an opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge while attaining a nationally recognised qualification.

This course is suitable for anyone who has responsibility for managing others in the workplace and would like to develop their understanding of how to be an effective manager at UC. Who would benefit from this program?

This program is designed for Academic and General Staff who work with people to achieve outcomes. The subjects within this qualification have an emphasis on effective personal management as well as the management of others.

The program aims to provide you with opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills while fostering your network of UC staff that will continue to assist you as you develop your career.

The benefits of the Certificate IV in Frontline Management include:

• It is a well known and well regarded staff development program recognised nationally.
• The program includes subjects that staff across the University have identified as development needs.
• This program is suitable for existing and aspiring managers/supervisors.
• Training will be tailored to incorporate UC processes and documents where possible.

Places are limited and so depending on the numbers of applications we receive, a selection process may be required. The Certificate IV in Frontline Management qualification is open to all UC staff who meet the following criteria:

1. You are a citizen or permanent resident of Australia.

2. You are employed at UC as a full-time or part-time ongoing employee or fixed-term staff member with at least 12 months contract from the initial date of application for this program.

3. You are not currently enrolled in another Certificate IV Program being delivered through the University of Canberra HR-Organisational Development.

Cost of the program

The University of Canberra has initiated this program as an investment in their staff and so there is no fee for you or your work area to pay. Organisational Development in Human Resources will pay the required study fees. You will be expected to buy any stationary to complete the program. Any teaching release or staff replacement costs will need to be taken into consideration and funded by your work area.

Time commitment

The program will be held weekly on Friday (with the exception of a few weeks) from 9.30am to 1.30pm in training rooms at UC. The program commences on 2 March 2012 and concludes on 25 May 2012.

This program requires a substantial commitment in time and participants must be fully supported by their managers/supervisors and Deans/Directors before commencing the program.

1. Log in to Learn Online (Moodle) using your normal UC user id and password
2. Select 'Organisational Development'
3. Select 'Cert IV in Frontline Mgt Application' then scroll down to the information below
4. When you have read the information select 'Participant Application - Cert IV Frontline Mgr 2012'
5. Complete the application questions
6. Obtain approval from your Manager/Supervisor and Dean/Director to participate in this program. Save the emails as 'text files'. 
7. Upload your email approvals into the Moodle site
