Community
University of Canberra - What's the attraction?
At the University of Canberra we pride ourselves in being an integral part of our local community. We have a number of programs that create opportunities for our staff, students and the Canberra community to interact.
Giving
The University of Canberra seeks to be a contributing member of the ACT community. In 2009 we were active through the Belconnen Region Arts Festival, the Centenary of Canberra 2013 (working with the Chief Minister’s Department) and the Canberra Biennial. All key events within our community.
For Christmas, we celebrate a Harmony Giving Tree Celebration where we support the Smith Family’s Toy and Book Appeal.
Music
The University of Canberra holds Stonefest each October. A music festival that is held on campus to celebrate the unveling of the university foundation stone in 1968. It is the largest University based music festival and the line up each year features a range of current bands. In 2009 three of the headline acts were some of the top names in Aussie music scene: The Living End, Josh Pyke and Birds Of Tokyo.
Lifestyle
Canberra is one of Australia's best kept secrets. All the advantages of a big city with the benefits of a small community. If you want to know more about the many benefits of living in the Canberra community explore the live in Canberra website (external website).
Benefits
The University of Canberra staff also receive benefits that are exclusively for staff. More information can be found on the UC Staff Benefits page.
