Health Services at UC
Health and medical services at the University of Canberra are offered by:
- the Health and Counselling Centre - available to members of the University only.
- the Faculty of Health Clinic - available to the public.
- the headspace ACT youth mental health service - available to the public.
University of Canberra Health and Counselling Centre
Medical Service:
The Health Service provides a comprehensive range of general medical services to University of Canberra students and the University community
- GP medical consultations;
- Vaccinations;
- reproductive health consultations; and
- minor surgery.
Most medical services for Australian UC students are bulk billed through Medicare.
Counselling Service:
The Counselling Service provides free counselling to any University of Canberra student. Our counsellors are sensitive to all issues affecting students, and are experienced in working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Faculty of Health Clinic
The Faculty of Health Clinic is a specialised clinic with exercise physiologists, dietitians, physiotherapists and psychologists providing multidisciplinary evidence-based health care.
We provide:
- Private individual consultations with health professionals
- Group programs for improving health outcomes
- Third party, Medicare and Veterans Affairs rebates
- Occupational rehabilitation services
- HICAPS and EFTPOS facilities

Faculty of Health Mobile Clinic
The University of Canberra’s Mobile Health Clinic will provide new clinical placements for students along with treatment and care for patients who may not have access to some health services due to cost, travel required or service availability.

headspace ACT
headspace ACT is a one-stop shop for young people aged 12-25 and their families to receive mental health and/or alcohol and other drug support in a youth-friendly environment.
For Emergencies On Campus Requiring Medical Assistance
For a medical situation occurring on Campus between the hours of 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday requiring the assistance of the Health Centre, ring the University Health Centre on 6201 2351. Please inform Reception Staff of the nature of the emergency, the exact location on Campus (building, floor, room number and phone extension if possible), the patients name (if known), and the name of the person making the request for the Health Centres attendance.
If the medical situation is considered life threatening, please ring 000 before contacting the Health Centre.
For any emergencies occurring after hours (after 5pm and before 9am Monday to Friday, and on weekends), please refer the patient to Accident & Emergency at Calvary Hospital, or ring 000 for assistance if the matter is considered life threatening.
