Red Cross Blood Drive

Golden Key University of Canberra Chapter requests your assistance in donating blood for the Australian Red Cross Blood Service

The Donor-Mobile will be on University of Canberra grounds (Pinnaroo Street, Bruce, Off College Street) from

Tuesday 3 October to Friday 6 October 2006 from 9.10am – 12.30pm

Remember one blood donation can save up to 3 lives.

So if you are aged between 16 – 70 and meet the conditions below on the donation day,
please join Golden Key UC in helping to save lives. We will be at the Donor-Mobile on Wednesday 4th October from 11.30am to show our support and we’ll even supply free lollies!

Please call 6206 6006 or 13 14 95 to make an appointment to donate blood.

On the day of your blood donation you must:

  • have eaten a meal and drunk 3 to 4 glasses of water or juice in the 2 hours prior to donation
  • weigh at least 48 kg
  • have waited at least 12 weeks (84 days) since your last donation
  • be feeling well
  • be aged 16 - 70
  • have never had a heart attack or stroke
  • not had a gastric upset or diarrhoea in the last 7 days
  • not be pregnant, or have been pregnant in the last 9 months.
  • not be breastfeeding
  • not be taking antibiotics, or have been taking antibiotics in the last 5 days
  • not had a tattoo in the last 12 months
  • have not been in the U.K. between 1980 to 1996 for a total of 6 months or more
  • you must present your donor card or photo ID with 3 points of identification on it
    (e.g. full name, photo and address or date of birth) at least one must have date of birth
