Research and Professional Interests

As part of the Invasive Animals cooperative Research Centre, based at the University of Canberra, Tony focuses his current research on the management of invasive pest animals, in particular, predators such as  the feral cat. Management of invasive animals has progressed from attempting to eradicate pests to managing their impacts and requires a whole of system approach. Tony’s research regularly takes him into the field to learn about the interactions between invasive predators and their prey items.
Other areas of research interest include the effects of urbanization on small native mammals and strategies to minimization of non target bait take.

Teaching Interests

In line with his research interests, Tony is the unit convener for the UC graduate courses involving strategic pest management.
