Career Destinations
Securing a position in a forensic science laboratory is highly competitive, and position availability is somewhat limited Australia-wide. Fortunately, there are a number of other fascinating careers open to graduates of this degree. The University has designed its courses to ensure that the skills gained are highly transferable to many different scientific areas. Diagnostic, regulatory and scientific research laboratories, as well as a variety of government and non-government agencies, are all potential employers.
Career destinations of some of our recent graduates include:
- Forensic Biologist: Forensic and Data Centres, Australian Federal Police
- Radiological Intelligence Officer: Australian Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Data Centre, Australian Federal Police
- Scene of Crime Officer: NSW Police
- Laboratory Analyst: Australian Capital Territory Government Analytical Laboratory (ACTGAL)
- Pathologist: Capital Pathology
- Technical Assistant: ACT Pathology (Canberra Hospital)
- Medicine postgraduate program: Australian National University
Many of our graduates progress to further study, and undertake research degrees (Masters and PhD) in a particular area of forensic science.
