Environmental Science

Conservation and Management of Land, Water, Wildlife

An integrated program

Our established and well-respected environmental science program was the second to be established in Australia, and the first to produce graduates. We are renowned for our applied research and teaching targeted at the professions involved in integrated catchment management, water science, freshwater ecology, environmental and analytical chemistry, conservation biology, invasive species management, wildlife genetics and resource policy and planning.

Research and teaching go hand in hand

The discipline and its undergraduate programs are closely integrated with research and postgraduate training in the Institute for Applied Ecology. Our staff members lead the postgraduate education and outreach programs of the Cooperative Research Centres for eWater and Invasive Animals, both of which are headquartered on campus.

Experience Field Studies from Ocean to Outback

Field study is a prominent feature of these courses and one greatly valued by students. It is where you get your hands dirty. In studying for these degrees, you will engage in field work in a range of different environments, from the coastal ecosystems of Jervis Bay to the rangelands of the semi-arid zone. Field classes are designed to deliver core competencies in field study of practical relevance to integrated environmental management.
