Double Degrees in Science

This double Bachelors degree is for students who aim for a legal career combining an interest in particular aspects of science. The science component allows students great flexibility in their choice of subjects and enables opportunities for students to prepare themselves for careers in research, technology, science, mathematics and education, or areas of management or public policy which involve the use of science or mathematics. . The law degree may be awarded with honours.
To enable completion in a minimum of five years, time savings are arranged mainly by taking the LLB units as the open elective major in the existing Bachelor of Science course. It is important therefore to follow closely the study programme arranged by the course convener to achieve the minimum time. This course advice should be sought at the beginning of studies.
Students undertaking the double degree will be able to graduate with the science degree upon completion of the academic requirements for that degree in advance of the law degree. The law degree will also permit admission to practice after a further study for a Graduate Diploma in Professional Practice in Law or the College of Law Program in NSW.

This course is offered to school leavers and those with no previous tertiary qualifications who would like to become secondary teachers. This combined course offers a sound qualification in secondary teaching integrated with two key learning areas from Science.
Graduates will develop in-depth critical knowledge in their key learning areas and in the pedagogy of facilitating the learning of secondary students in these subject areas.

The Bachelor of Environmental Science provides flexible, innovative and integrated study into resources and environmental issues both of a global nature and unique to Australia.
By participating in a range of landscape architecture and environmental science studies and activities, students in the double degree develop a broad understanding of the cultural, social, environmental and economic issues associated with landscape design and management. The degree equips students with a range of critical and creative skills essential to work in multidisciplinary firms that deal with complex environmental planning and management issues.
The Bachelor of Arts in Landscape, Bachelor of Environmental Science also offers the basis for admission to the two year Master of Landscape Architecture degree for students wishing to become registered as a Landscape Architect.

This double Bachelors degree provides the qualifications to practise as a lawyer as well as the skills to work as a laboratory scientist. As a lawyer they will be able to meaningfully cross-examine expert witnesses in the medical fields. As scientists they will have a better idea of the legal ramifications of their research activities. The breadth offered by the double degree gives graduates a broader perspective, provides greater vocational flexibility and increases the range of employment opportunities in both the private and public sectors.
Students can graduate with the degree of BAppSc (Forensic Studies) at the end of three years.

This double Bachelors degree in Social Science in Justice Studies and Forensic Studies brings together two areas that will be very valuable for anyone wishing to make a career in law. The Justice Studies elements of the course will allow students to gain understanding of social and cultural dimensions of the justice system, complement their forensic science studies with grounding in the legal rules of evidence and procedure, and prepare them for management roles in justice agencies. The Forensic Science elements will equip them with a complete undergraduate science qualification orientated to crime investigation and the preparation of evidence for justice processes.
