The University of Canberra LLB is fully accredited by the Supreme Court of the ACT. As with most other LLB courses, students must undertake a course of Practical Legal Training at the end of the LLB to satisfy professional admission requirements. Past UC students have been admitted to practice into every Australian jurisdiction.
About half of our law students intend to use their law degree to practise as a lawyer. However, the growth and popularity of degrees in law demonstrate that a law degree is useful as well in combination with any other degree.
The research, reading, analysis and writing skills inherent in a law degree are highly valued by all professions and the marketplace.
There is a great need for people who have both the technical expertise grounded in a discipline such as science, engineering, accounting and administration combined with the analytical and problem solving skills which one acquires from the study of law.
The result is that University of Canberra law graduates are in high demand and our law degree acts as a highly advantageous stepping-stone to a wide range of careers both in Australia and overseas.
