Microsoft Student Partner Programme – A great opportunity for UC students

Each year, Microsoft runs a ‘Microsoft Student Partner’ (MSP) program, where they reward top students studying Microsoft (and other) technologies. The program is much like the Microsoft MVP program for industry professionals, in that it is a recognition of high quality, highly skilled individuals. They reward MSPs by giving them an MSDN subscription, paid trips to Tech.Ed, Microsoft events and free training on their technologies. Being an MSP is also highly valued if Microsoft student partners decide to apply to work in a technical role at Microsoft’s U.S headquarters. MSPs, in return, act like our eyes and ears on campus and amongst students.

The Microsoft Student Partner program gives Microsoft better visibility into universities, and gives universities better visibility into Microsoft. Generally, having a student partner on campus tends to ensure we don’t lose our connection with universities.

Microsoft is currently recruiting MSP’s for 2008. Given UC’s involvement with and successes in Imagine Cup and in teaching Microsoft technology, students from UC have a great opportunity. Microsoft generally takes 3 MSPs from Australia’s top universities, but the numbers need not be capped if we have a large number of good candidates.

ISE students are encouraged to express their interest through http://student-partners.com.
