Free Mainframe Computer Courses

The Faculty of ISE has launched two new courses in Mainframe Computing which won't cost students a cent. For more information, please see this article published on Monitor Online on August 9.

Publication

Congratulations to Peter Brown, Shuangzhe Liu and Dharmendra Sharma on the publication of their book, "Contributions to Probability and Statistics; Applicatons and Challenges", which is a research publication from the School of Information & Sciences' International Workshop on Statistics 2005.

Australian Computer Society Fellowships

At their recent meeting the Australian Computer Society elected two members of our staff as Fellows.
The ACS in their press release commented:

Dharmendra Sharma FACS - has made an outstanding contribution to the field of ICT, particularly in the establishment of the Fiji Computer Society and the South Pacific Computer Society in Fiji. These contributions were followed by a number of practical technology initiatives and academic activities to widely promote and strengthen the use and study of information communication and technology in the South Pacific region.

Craig McDonald FACS - has distinguished himself in the tertiary sector by his innovative research and practical application of knowledge management and expert systems to support the viticulture industry. He is also recognised by his peers for his work on the application of ethics in the ICT industry.

The Australian Computer Society (ACS) is the recognised professional association for those working in Information and Communications Technology, seeking to raise the standing of ICT professionals and represent their viewes to government, industry and the community. A member of the Australian Council of Professions, the ACS is the guardian of professional ethics and standards in the ICT sector, committed to ensuring the beneficial use of ICT for all Australians. 

Editor-in-Chief, Australian Journal of Information Systems

The Faculty is also delighted to announce that Associate Professor Craig McDonald has recently been appointed Editor-in-Chief of the prestigious Australian Journal of Information Systems.
