Consultancy
Sports Studies has an active consultancy program, and provides a high standard of services and resources for Australian sporting organisations. Consultancy undertaken by Sports Studies include:
- Conduct sports science testing and research for sporting organisations.
- Development of media profiles of all Australian team members for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, for the Australian Olympic Committee.
- Research into the impact of altitude training on elite sport performance, in conjunction with the Australian Institute of Sport.
- Lectures in the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme Level 1 to Level 3 awards, and in the Diploma of Coaching for the Australian Coaching Council.
- Sports Studies has provided sports science testing services for individual athletes and teams from the ACT, and at national and international levels, as well as for the ACT Academy of Sport.
- Preparation of development and/or marketing plans for sporting organisations.
- Conduct of national standard sports events for sports organisations.
- Preparation of media releases and information kits.
- Conduct of national and international conferences on sport.
- Operation of a sports injury assessment program for athletes, in co-operation with medical practitioners and physiotherapists.
Teaching Laboratories
The Faculty maintains five modern teaching laboratories that seat from 36 to 50 students and are equipped with modern scientific and specialist teaching equipment. They provide a professional learning environment for students studying in a diverse range of subjects including molecular biology, food science, sports science and physiology and anatomy.

Research Laboratories
The Faculty has well developed research laboratories equipped with the latest technology to undertake research and development in biomedical sciences. Significant research on aspects of the immune system, vaccine development and pathogenesis are currently underway. These facilities are used by honours and postgraduate research students alongside staff as part of our collegial approach to research.
