Public Health
Public Health offers a Bachelor of Public Health, providing foundation studies in health for those interested in a career in public health, health policy and planning, and health services.
If you want to understand key issues affecting the health of populations, be skilled in obtaining, reviewing and analysing health information, and be able to plan and manage health programs or projects, then studying or researching with the Discipline of Public Health is for you. Graduates will find work as community health officers, policy officers, program evaluators, public health promoters and educators, project officers and consultants. They can work in both public and private sectors including state and federal health departments, population health units, community health centres, divisions of general practice, non-governmental health organisations, advocacy groups and international health agencies.
The study program integrates a core public health discipline of study, with a choice of concentration areas suited to student interests and career intentions, or as required for postgraduate areas of specialist health practice. Students may choose, for example, a concentration area in nutrition, in psychology, in management, in community education or in marketing.
