Bio: Stephen has previously held academic positions in Australia (Deakin University, The University of New South Wales, and most recently at James Cook University) and in England (University of Kent, and London Business School). He has several years of experience in commercial market research, including Senior Project Director at Roy Morgan Research. His current research interests are in sports anti-doping (he has current grants from Department of Health and Ageing, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, and The World Anti-Doping Agency) and also in the interrogation of suspects in police investigations. Deborah RickwoodDr Debra Rickwood

Bio: Debra is Professor of Psychology at the Centre for Applied Psychology. She is a community psychologist who researches in the areas of young people's help-seeking behaviour, factors affecting mental health and wellbeing, including alcohol and other drug use; promotion, prevention and early intervention for mental health; recovery from mental illness; and health service utilisation and evaluation. Bruce StevensDr Bruce Stevens

Bio: Bruce was awarded his PhD from Boston University in 1987 and began private practice after returning to Australia. Initially part-time, he also worked as an Anglican Minister in parish ministry. Since starting the Canberra Clinical and Forensic Psychology in 1993 he has helped train over 70 psychologists with clinical placements and as interns. After teaching at UC and ANU in clinical programs since 2004 he is now full-time with one day a week private practice. Read more

Bio: Dr Connor’s employment history spans 37 years. She commenced her career at the University of Canberra during the 1980’s and is very happy to be returning to a familiar place! Since July 2006, Dr Connor has been employed as Director of the Psychology and Social Work Department at Calvary Healthcare ACT, an acute healthcare setting. Her role here has involved clinical practice, as well as managing and supervising the clinical work undertaken in this Department, and overseeing the supervision of students from local and interstate Universities. Lynne Magor-BlatchAssoc Prof Lynne Magor-Blatch

Bio: Lynne is a practicing psychologist and maintains a private practice in addition to her teaching and supervision of Psychology Clinical Masters students. She has more than 35 years experience in the alcohol and other drug (AOD) field, and has worked within the non-government and Government sectors as program director, policy officer and consultant, and within Mental Health as Secretariat Manager to the National Mental Health Working Group and the National Comorbidity Taskforce; in crisis counselling and intervention; child and adolescent

Bio: Diana is a developmental psychologist with a background in social psychology. Diana’s primary areas of research are (i) young children’s understanding of social categories (e.g., gender, age, race) and (ii) how beliefs about work and family affect the choices and workplace participation of both men and women.  In 2008-09 Diana held an ARC funded post-doctoral fellowship titled, “When immigrants and converts are not truly one of us: Examining the social psychology and developmental antecedents of marginalizing racism”. Bio: Thea is an Assistant Professor in Psychology at the Centre for Applied Psychology.  She is a cognitive psychologist whose primary area of research area is memory. Her PhD was on verbal overshadowing, an area of applied memory research relating to eyewitness testimony. Her expertise and interests include memory, eyewitness testimony and physiological psychology. Before studying psychology, she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Computing Studies and worked as a computer programmer and IT consultant for 10 years. Read more

Dr Lynne McCormackDr Lynne McCormack

Bio: Lynne McCormack is a clinical, health and educational psychologist specialising in complex trauma for over 20 years.  She has worked in international humanitarian settings, hospitals, schools and private practice and for military and emergency services.  Her interests lie in the coexisting relationship between negative and positive effects of complex trauma which grew firstly from her own voluntary involvement in war-torn and disaster areas, and secondly from working with many clients who were able to redefine their lives positively following extreme adversity. Read more

Bio: Amanda's primary research interests are in psychopharmacology, with a strong interest in substance use and mental health comorbidity and the role of alcohol and illicit substances in personality and cognitive performance. Amandas PhD was on the drug ecstasy and she primarily examined the relationships of ecstasy use with verbal memory and overall cognitive performance, as well as depressive and anxiety symptoms. Bio: Janie is a researcher in cognitive psychology and mental health. She completed her BSc and PhD at the University of Queensland and was a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Mental Health Research at the Australian National University. Her interests in experimental psychology include the development of episodic memory and planning (mental time travel) in children, the development of the understanding of time, and adult temporal perception and drive states.

Bio: Stuart completed his PhD at UniSA in 2009 on the psychophysiology of stress and pain. He was a Lecturer in Clinical Psychology at University of South Australia in 2010, and was a Sports Psychologist at the South Australian Sports Institute from 2009-2011. Dr Vikki KnottDr Vikki Knott

Bio: Vikki Knott has considerable experience in the conduct of applied research within the areas of Health Psychology (Psycho-oncology, Chronic Illness, Gastroenterology) and also Industrial and Organisational Psychology (e.g., Occupational Health & Safety incorporating Return to Work, Stress, Workplace Bullying & Organisational Trust). She has co-authored several chapters in Year 12 Psychology texts on Stress and Health and has authored several key government reports in relating to occupational psychology, health psychology and psycho-oncology.
