Nutrition and Dietetics

The University of Canberra’s Discipline of Nutrition and Dietetics offers both undergraduate studies in human nutrition, and postgraduate studies in both nutrition, and nutrition and dietetics. The underpinning sciences for the study of nutrition (and dietetics) are chemistry, biochemistry, physiology and nutritional science, all of which are offered in the Bachelor of Human Nutrition at the University of Canberra.

Students who have completed an undergraduate degree in biomedical sciences or nutrition can apply for our postgraduate courses, if all the appropriate prerequisites have been completed. A Graduate Diploma of Nutritional Sciences, a 12-month course, can be undertaken at UC by those with a Science degree or similar, but without the required nutrition units. This course enables students to be eligible for entry into Master of Nutrition and Master of Nutrition and Dietetics. At the graduate level, we also offer opportunities for alternative study options in a range of graduate certificates to graduate diplomas. Courses can be undertaken full or part-time, and there are elective units in most courses, but students should seek advice about their study options.
