Janet has an extensive background in Emergency Nursing and has held a variety of clinical, education and management roles over the past 26 years. Currently employed full time, she has been a sessional tutor at UC since 2007 (Adult Acute Care; Child and Adolescent Health & Illness; Analysing Disease 1;  Analysing Disease 2). She is a Clinical Fellow with the Australian Catholic University.


Previously, Janet was the Education Coordinator in the Emergency Department at Calvary Health Care, ACT, where she coordinated the clinical component of a Graduate Certificate in Nursing (Emergency) program. Janet presented at the 2010 College of Emergency Nursing, Australasia (CENA) national conference on developing a post graduate nursing curriculum in the clinical setting. She is an instructor for the international Trauma Nursing Core Course  (TNCC) and travels throughout Australia/New Zealand yearly to teach this course to working nurses. Janet came to Australia in 2005 after retiring as a Commander from the US Navy Nurse Corps. She taught multiple courses and classes throughout her 20 year military career and led numerous nursing education initiatives.


Janet is passionate about promoting the professionalism of nursing. She utilises her leadership expertise to guide students into becoming responsible, knowledgeable nursing professionals. A strong clinical role model, Janet is keen to continue bedside care of patients while motivating students to embrace the art and science of nursing.
