Fiona James has been a lecturer at UC since 2010 in the Undergraduate BN. Fiona commenced working as a clinical facilitator for the university in 2009 and came on board as a lecturer in 2010. Prior to this Fiona had 11 years of clinical nursing experience, predominantly in cardiothoracic surgical nursing at The Canberra Hospital. Fiona has also worked as a clinical development nurse (educator) for TCH and has delivered courses for staff development. Fiona is a UC graduate, having completed her Bachelor of Nursing here from 1996-1999.
Research interests include: understanding the emotional labour of nursing; reducing burn out amongst nurses and nursing students; and reducing the ‘reality shock’ on new graduates through excellent preparation of graduates. Fiona is currently studying her Masters of Advanced Nursing Practice and therefore understands the reality of juggling various aspects of your life and getting your assessments in on time. Fiona is passionate about the development of student nurses through clinical facilitation.
Fiona has volunteered in the past for St John Ambulance and undertaken several courses on anatomy and physiology.
