Emily's experience is in emergency nursing and she has worked in Melbourne and Canberra caring for adult and paediatric patients. Emily moved to Canberra in 2006 and while working at The Canberra Hospital Emergency Department she completed postgraduate qualifications and developed a passion for nursing education. Student learning within the clinical environment has been along standing interest for Emily as a clinician and furthermore as a new academic.Emily has recently completed her Master of Critical Care Nursing and continues to be interested in emergency care and workplace learning. Emily enjoys working at the University of Canberra because she has the opportunity to get to know the students by name and see the develop over the program. Currently, Emily is involved in two research projects. Firstly, an interdisciplinary project related to student assessment in work integrated learning (WIL) and secondly, her Masters work exploring the role of the scribe nurse during in-hospital resuscitation. Furthermore, Emily revels in bringing her enthusiasm for teaching students about ‘being a nurse’ to the classroom and seeing this translated into practice when visiting students in the clinical environment.
